Kinship (Latin
agnatio from agnatus, natus: born) - the type of relationship in the Roman family law arising from a commo n exposure to patria potestas (paternal authority), in contrast t o kognacji, which was based on (all) kinship. Under the authority of a superior family was entered in a natural way (by birth), or on the basis of the measure (adoption of a child, entering his wife into her husbands authority, legitimacy of the child). Agnatio arose only in the male line, but agnatĂłw reckoned both men and women.
